Privacy Policy (Simplified)
Read a shorter summary of our privacy practices
Effective Date: March 20, 2026
Welcome to Cakeday.
This Privacy Policy (Simplified) is intended to help you quickly understand how we process personal information. The key points include:
- what information we process
- how we do not use that information
- how long the information is kept
- how you can manage the information
- how to contact us
This simplified version is only a summary of the full Privacy Policy and does not replace or limit the effect of the full version. If there is any inconsistency, the full version controls.
1. What Information We Process
- Cakeday is a local-first app. It does not require user accounts and does not rely on developer-operated backend servers.
- Cakeday stores birthday records, notes, avatars, groups, app preferences, and related metadata locally on your iOS device.
- If you enable iCloud Sync, Cakeday uses Apple’s CloudKit framework to synchronize supported data to your personal private iCloud container.
- The Cakeday website may set a functional cookie to remember your language preference.
- Our hosting and content delivery providers may process limited technical request data, such as IP address, user agent, and request timestamps, to deliver the site, defend against abuse, and maintain security and availability.
- If you contact us by email, we may retain your email for as long as reasonably necessary to respond and maintain support records.
2. What We Do Not Do
- We do not create user accounts.
- We do not transmit your birthday records to developer-operated servers.
- We do not store your app content on our own servers.
- The app does not include advertising SDKs, third-party analytics, behavioral tracking, or developer-side crash telemetry.
- We do not sell, share, or use your app data for advertising, profiling, or data brokerage.
- We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, session replay tools, or third-party tracking scripts on the website.
3. How Long Information Is Kept
- App data stored locally remains on your device until you delete it or remove the app.
- If iCloud Sync is enabled, synced data remains in your private iCloud container until you delete it or turn off iCloud Sync and choose to remove cloud data.
- The website language-preference cookie remains until it expires or you clear it from your browser.
- Emails you send us may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary.
4. How You Can Manage Information
- You can edit or delete records in the app, export backups, disable iCloud Sync, clear website cookies, or uninstall the app.
- Because we do not maintain user accounts or store your app content on our servers, we generally cannot provide server-side access, correction, export, or deletion for app content that only exists on your device or in your private iCloud container.
- For more practical steps, please see Data Controls.
5. Children’s Privacy
- Cakeday is not designed to knowingly collect personal data from children because we do not collect app user data in the ordinary course of operating the app or website.
- If you believe that you or a child in your care sent us personal information directly by email and you want it removed, contact us.
6. Contact Us
- For privacy questions, contact cakeday@wbx1.com.
7. Relationship to the Full Policy
- This Privacy Policy (Simplified) is only a short summary of the main points.
- If you would like the complete rules and explanations, please see the full Privacy Policy.
