Privacy Policy
Learn how we protect your data
Effective Date: March 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to the Cakeday iOS app, the Cakeday documentation website, and related support communications operated by wbx1 Ltd. It explains what information we do and do not process.
This Privacy Policy is relevant to your use of Cakeday. Please read it carefully before using the service. If you would like a shorter summary, see the Privacy Policy (Simplified).
Summary
Cakeday is designed to work without user accounts and without developer-operated backend servers. We do not collect, sell, rent, profile, or monetize your personal data.
Data Processed in the App
Cakeday stores birthday records, notes, avatars, groups, app preferences, and related metadata locally on your device.
If you enable iCloud Sync, Cakeday uses Apple’s CloudKit framework to synchronize supported app data to your personal private iCloud container. We do not have access to data stored in your private iCloud container and cannot read, retrieve, or delete it on your behalf. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.
Data We Do Not Collect
Cakeday does not create user accounts and does not transmit your birthday records to our servers.
The app does not include advertising SDKs, third-party analytics, behavioral tracking, or developer-side crash telemetry.
We do not sell, share, or use your app data for advertising, profiling, or data brokerage.
Website Data and Cookies
The Cakeday website may set a small functional cookie to remember your language preference. This cookie is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Like most websites, our hosting and content delivery providers may process limited technical request data, such as IP address, user agent, and request timestamps, to deliver the site, defend against abuse, and maintain security and availability.
We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, session replay tools, or third-party tracking scripts on the website.
Data Retention
Because we do not operate a developer-side database for app content, we do not retain your birthday records on our own servers.
- App data stored locally remains on your device until you delete it or remove the app.
- If iCloud Sync is enabled, synced data remains in your private iCloud container until you delete it or turn off iCloud Sync and choose to remove cloud data.
- The website language-preference cookie remains until it expires or you clear it from your browser.
- Emails you send us may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond and maintain support records.
Your Controls
Cakeday gives you direct control over your data. You can edit or delete records in the app, export backups, disable iCloud Sync, clear website cookies, or uninstall the app. More practical instructions are described in the Data Controls page.
Because we do not maintain user accounts or store your app content on our servers, we generally cannot provide server-side access, correction, export, or deletion of app content that only exists on your device or in your private iCloud container.
Children’s Privacy
Cakeday is not designed to knowingly collect personal data from children, because we do not collect app user data in the ordinary course of operating the app or website. If you believe you sent us personal information directly by email and want it removed, contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product, legal, or operational changes. When we do, we will post the revised version here and update the effective date above.
